Before you choose your next rental
Compare the full cost and practical conditions of a rental, not only the monthly rent. A clear set of questions makes it easier to choose and prepare for moving day.

Set an all-in monthly budget
Ask which recurring costs are included in the rent and which are separate. Note maintenance, utilities, parking and any shared-service charges. Keep the security deposit and other upfront payments in a separate column so you can compare cash needed at the start.
Check what comes with the space
Request an inventory of furniture, appliances and fittings that will stay. With permission, check their condition and record existing damage. Ask who is responsible for repairs and how faults should be reported. Do not assume “furnished” means the same thing in every listing.
Discuss the proposed terms
Ask about the intended term, notice, renewal, restrictions and any fit-out requirements. Commercial occupants should describe their actual use before proceeding. Have the proposed agreement reviewed and clarify unanswered points before signing or paying.
Plan the handover
Agree the move-in date and record keys, meter readings, inventory and condition with both parties. Keep copies of receipts and the signed agreement. A simple handover record helps everyone refer to the same starting point later.
